A female octopus hatching the eggs for new borns. Both the male and female octopuses die soon after mating. The male dies a few months afterwards, while female dies shortly after the eggs hatch. The female cares for her eggs until they hatch, forgoing food the entire time. She blows currents across the eggs to keep them clean and protects them from predators. 每隻章魚寶寶的誕生，都是用母親的生命所交換而來。 章魚媽媽在交配產卵後，就會停止進食，全心照顧她的寶寶們，直到孵化。她會守著章魚卵，以防掠食者獵捕，並用觸手不停地撥弄他們，以讓水流能通過，藉此以保持章魚卵的乾淨，並避免章魚卵因為缺氧而死亡。 孵化的過程長達數週，而在章魚寶寶誕生後，母親也會因為體力耗盡而死亡。

2014 歐洲 World Shootou 微距組 佳作 Honorable Mention, Macro Category, 2014 World Shootout Underwater Photo Grand Prix 帝王蝦常常出現在海蛞蝓 (又稱海兔，是一種裸鰓類的軟體生物)身上。帝王蝦顏色炫麗，和所棲息的海蛞蝓顏色相近，以得到庇護，避免被其他生物補食。 帝王蝦也吃海蛞蝓的排泄物，幫助維持海蛞蝓身上的乾淨，他們兩者之間是互利共生的關係。
