A stingray swimming on the sandbar under a beautiful sunrise in Grand Cayman. I took this photo using a technique called split-shoot, by which I put part of my lens dome underwater and the other part above-water, so that I could show the stingray on the beautiful sandbar and the stunning sunrise in the same frame.
2016 Deep Vision (Scubashooters) 廣角組 佳作 Honorable Mention, Wide Angle Category, 2016 Deep Vision (Scubashooters) UWP Awards A close encounter with a group of stingrays under a beautiful sunset.
The nostrils, mouth and gill slits on the underside of a stingray compose a big "SMILE"! It is normally not easy to see the undersides of stingrays since they usually agitate the sand and hide beneath it. A place called "Stingray City" in Grand Cayman consists of a large, shallow reserve where the rays live, and snorkeling is possible since the rays are used to the presence of humans. The rays in Stingray City are so active that one of them even "climb" on my camera.
